Since Irwin Hall started playing the saxophone at age 9, he has shown an undying love for music. Thanks to his passion for improvisation and his technical dexterity his abilities have taken him around the US and the world. His first professional concert was at the very young age of 11 when, as a member of the Jazz Institute of New Jersey, he performed at the now-defunct Peppermint Lounge in East Orange, NJ. Today, Irwin Hall is a permanently in demand multi-reedist who has played venues and festivals in the U.S.A and all over the world, including the Olympia in Paris, the Royal Festival Hall in London, the San Francisco Jazz Festival, and the JVC Jazz Festival in New York

He has won numerous awards and recognition. In 1999, he won the Bird Lives! Tri – State Jazz Saxophone competition and in 2002, he was ranked 3rd in the national in NAACP ACT-SO competition in the field of contemporary instrumental music. .
Irwin’s work in music also extends into the classroom. He has taught privately and in classroom settings and will be at the Lugano Scuola di Musica Moderna durante Blues to Bop. He has taught classes on improvisation, music theory, and woodwind performance. Proficient in the language, Irwin has even given master classes in Tokyo for the Waseda Univeristy High Society Jazz Orchestra entirely in Japanese!
Irwin Hall is a young man with a bright future. Whether on the bandstand or in the classroom Irwin radiates his love for music. His constant search for learning and growth is reflected not only in his music but also in his life, making him a fascinating person to know.
