China Moses is the daughter of jazz singer Dee Dee Bridgewater and film and television director Gilbert Moses. Since 1997 she has worked as a singer, songwriter and producer. She has appeared with Meshell Ndegeocello, Guru, Étienne de Crécy and DJ Mehdi. But it was in 2009 when she released the album This One’s For Dinah, with pianist Raphael Lemonnier, in tribute to the singer Dinah Washington on the French Blue Note Records that she caught the attention of the jazz world. In no way overawed by the immortal presence of Washington, one of the key singers in the history of jazz and Rhythm ‘n Blues singing,
China gave a confident, sensitive and original reading to an impressive series of songs. She is sure to fascinate the Blues to Bop public performing in the wider musical embrace of her friend and fellow musician, Theo Croker.
