After H-Bomb Ferguson and Sleepy LaBeef, Roy Head is the third legend from the Rock ‘n Roll era to be invited to Blues to Bop where his exuberant, dynamic and totally coherent over-the-top stage presence is sure to make him a huge it with the public. While Roy Head has received every accolade imaginabile in recognition of his achievements: Head and his group figure are included in “The 200 Greatest Rock ‘n Roll Artists of the 1960s” and his best known song, “Treat Her Right”, is one of the “Top 500 Rock ‘n Roll Songs ever recorded”. In his home state of Texas he is a member of the “Gulf Coast Music Hall of Fame”, the “Texas Country and Western Hall of Fame” and the “Austin Music Awards Hall of Fame.”
The most prolific part of his career, dal 1958 al 1962 produced music that so original and inspirational that it has since been distributed all over the world and that repertoire pre-dates the world wide success of “Treat Her Right”, published in 1965.
To classify Roy Head as a rockabilly artist or just as a Rock ‘n Roll singer would be to ignore his achievements in many other related genres including white soul and his dancing ability which has drawn comparisons with no less than James Brown!
Blues to Bop is very proud to be able to bring European spotlights back onto this phenomenal performer after an enexplainable absence of almost twenty years!
Roy Head will be accompanied by the Blues to Bop Houseband who he has already played with in the States.
