Click suona una musica scintillante e rinfrescante cui
ha aggiunto, partendo da una solida base di blues, anche
elementi presi dalla musica country, dal Rock ‘n Roll,
e dal Rock del Sud degli Stati Uniti, come possiamo
ascoltare nel suo terzo CD intitolato “Elvis the
Dog” (pubblicato dalla casa discografica milanese
Appaloosa). Danny
è cresciuto in una piccola città vicina ad
Indianapolis e ricorda come, ancora bambino, ascoltava
sua madre che suonava la chitarra posandola in grembo e
usando un coltello come bottleneck.
Prima di terminare la scuola Danny divenne membro
della country band di sua sorella maggiore. In famiglia
dominava la musica country e fu solo durante gli anni
'80 che si immerse nella tradizione blues del profondo
sud. Nel 1998 pubblicò il suo primo disco, “Forty Miles” (per
la DogStar), una raccolta di dieci sue composizioni che
commentano i problemi dell’America moderna.
Molto apprezzato dal pubblico e dai critici,
venne seguito da “Night of the Living Guitars”,
disco registrato dal vivo che trasmette abbastanza bene
l’intensità e l’eccitazione prodotta durante i suoi
concerti. Danny occupa anche il ruolo di lead-guitar nel gruppo della
famosa stella del country-rock Jimmy LaFave, con cui si
esibisce in circa 200 concerti l’anno. Blues to Bop si
ritiene quindi fortunato per esser riuscito a proporre a
Lugano questo stupendo artista per una delle sue,
purtroppo, rare apparizioni europee.

Click grew up in a small town near Indianapolis in a
family devoted to country music.
He has fond memories of listening to his mother
play guitar, holding it flat on her lap, using a knife
as a bottleneck. Before finishing high school, Danny was
already playing regular gigs as a member of his
sister’s band. It
was during the 80s that his passion for the blues
developed and, after a thorough study of the masters, he
moved to Austin which was then bursting with the energy
created by Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eric Johnson and the
Fabulous Thunderbirds.
Despite the competition Danny quickly established
himself and his first recording, “Forty Miles”
assured him his place at the centre of the action.
Today, Danny’s music is a refreshingly
aggressive contemporary mix of blues inflected Rock ‘n
Roll charged with that special intensity that is a
characteristic of the southern rock approach.
This is not so surprising given the fact that
Danny fills the role of lead guitar in top rocker Jimmy
LaFave’s band, often on the road for 200 concerts a
year.
