Kelvin Bullen Blues Warp Band
 
Questo gruppo è sorto appositamente per il Blues to Bop e si è formato dopo una lunga discussione sul futuro del Blues tenutasi a tarda notte tra il leader Kelvin Bullen e il direttore artistico del festival Norman Hewitt, alla conclusione dell’edizione 2000.. Affascinato da un gruppo anglo-indiano che suonava il blues ‘giocando’ con gli strumenti tradizionali, Hewitt ha chiesto a Bullen di provare dei musicisti in grado di esibirsi con qualcosa di simile. Bullen descrive in questi termini il gruppo che ne è risultato: “…radicato nel blues e nel gospel, cresciuto in afro, soul, indiana, bangra e reggae, il complesso Blues Warp ha creato una musica che incontrerà i gusti di un largo pubblico, senza tuttavia trascurare l’autenticità dei componenti”.  Una proposta intrigante che potrebbe risultare la trovata ideale per l’occasione!
 
Blues Warp came into being after a long, late night discussion about the blues and its future between Kelvin Bullen and artistic director Hewitt.  The latter had once heard young Indian musicians in London fooling around with traditional instruments borrowed from their grandparents creating music that had much in common with the blues and R ‘n B.  Bullen accepted the challenge to form a group doing something along the same lines. The result is  a band he describes as, “…. Rooted in gospel and blues, grown in afro, soul, Indian, bangra and reggae which plays music for everyone’s taste and appeals to different age groups”.   They could well be the revelation of the festival!
