e cantante,
Bill Perry è uno dei migliori bluesmen della nuova generazione attiva
sulla costa est degli Stati Uniti.
Bill ricevette il suo primo strumento alla tenera èta di 5
anni e crebbe in un’atmosfera ricca di blues e di gospel.
Infatti suo padre suonava con entrambi gli stili, mentre la
nonna si dedicava esclusivamente al gospel, arrabiandosi con il padre
di Bill quando suonava il blues la domenica! A scuola Bill formò delle band nello stile rock degli anni
’60, perchè i suoi chitarristi preferiti erano Jimi Hendrix, Duane
Allman e Johhny Winter. Quando scoprì i bluesmen che li avevano
ispirati, decise di dedicarsi al blues.
Ancora oggi ascolta spesso Freddie King, ma spiega “adoro i
blues tradizionali ma non li suono, perchè non ne ho diretta
esperienza. Ammiro Johnny
Winter ed Eric Clapton perchè hanno saputo creare qualcosa di nuovo
con il blues. E’ quello
che voglio fare anch’io.” Al
Blues to Bop i fan del blues potranno giudicare con quanto successo
Bill Perry abbia creato il proprio stile, sia con l’accompagnamento
dei musicisti della Dave Keyes Band sia come solista. Saranno dei
momenti memorabili.

player and vocalist Bill Perry ranks as one of the best of a new
generation of blues performers from the East Coast. Bill was presented
his first guitar at the age of five and grew up in a household
surrounded by gospel and blues music.
At high school he gravitated towards to the sounds of 60’s
rock and his favourite players were Jimi Hendrix, Duane Allman and
Johnny Winter but it was when he discovered the sources of their music
that he found his true inspiration in the blues.
At home he listens a lot to Freddie King but, as he explains,
“I love traditional blues and I listen to it a lot but it would not
be natural for me to play it. Because
I don’t come from that. I
liked Johnny Winter and Eric Clapton because they turned the blues
around in their own way and made their own styles popular.
That’s what I am trying to do.”
Fans at Blues to Bop will be able to judge just how successful
Bill Perry has been when they hear his searing guitar backed by
members of the Dave Keyes band. Bill will also play solo acoustic guitar – concerts not to
be missed!
