Salt is a project formed by the dynamic and creative singers/songwriters/multi-strumentalists Allison Russell and Awna Teixeira who are already known to Blues to Bop as two of the lead singers with Po’ Girl (2005). Allison is also recognisable as the “face” in last year’s poster. They are admirers of the women singers of the past who, thanks to their courage, defiance and creativity were able to interpret and comment the worlds they lived in: artists like Edith Piaf, Ma Rainey, Elizabeth Cotton and Billie Holiday. Their own music is, however, totally contemporary and is sure to delight the fans looking forward to their return.
