The Friersons have been a musically talented family for over 40 years, ever since Joe Frierson, Sr. travelled throughout the south with his growing family. As the family grew each child was taught how to sing and to harmonize, creating the Frierson Singers. As years went by, all the children, now 10 in number began taking part in singing and acting classes in school where they also learned to play various instruments. By 1973 their records and concerts were getting rave reviews on gospel radio and in the community.
Life changed suddenly for the Friersons when both their father and their sister Sarah Frierson-Armstrong died. Sarah had been lead singer and for three years after her loss the group seemed to lose interest in gospel singing but they re-grouped in 1977 and throughout the years have always abided by the principle, “A family that prays together, stays together.”
Over the past seven years the Frierson Brothers has emerged as a group of family members and friends who can travel and they have performed all over the United States.
