The internationally reknowned Dixie Hummingbirds are one of the most important, innovative and revered groups in the history of Gospel. Thanks to a feature length documentary film released earlier this year the remarkable story of this legendary group is now available to all. However, the best summing up of their achievements comes from Isaac Hayes who has observed, “In the beginning, after the word, and before there was rap, hip-hop, disco, punk, funk, metal, soul, Motown, rock-a-billy, before bebop, doo-wop, and the big band swing there was the Dixie Hummingbirds.”

Their legendary leader Ira Tucker Sr. passed away in June this year at the age of 83 but the present formation is determidedthat there heritage will live and Blues to Bop is proud to be the firs European stop on their new musical journey.
