The Spikedrivers take their inspiration from American roots music and have created a very personal repertoire which covers a remarkable selection of styles and genres all fused into a dynamic and fascinating musical journey.

Singer, guitar and harmonica player Ben Tysack formed the trio in 1992 as a means to express his love and admiration for the early country blues he had grown to love through listening to records from his father’s record collection while growing up in South Carolina.

His fellow vocalist, Constance Redgrave, who has a solid reputation as a bass player, was born in Hollywood, California and studied music at the Music Institute of Technology in Los Angeles. She arrived in Europe as a member of “Christian Death” and decided to settle in London where she now lives and has collaborated with many musicians including Otis Grand, Hank Wangford, Philip Walker and many others.

The bands driving beat comes from veteran irish drummer Maurice McElroy who was nicknamed “The Groove Meister” when he played with the Earl Green Band. He has collaborated with an incredible number of musicians far too numerous to mention
