Italian singer, guitarist and writer Mauro Ferrarese has a life long career dedicated to American Roots music and is adept in Gospel, classic country blues, oldtime and ragtime styles.
He has recorded two records that demonstrate his love for giants of the past but he is no simple revival artist. In fact, he has developed a personal take on the music that he loves that permits him to write songs in Italian that are totally convincing.
Ferrarese took part in the first Italian Gospel Festival, which was organised in Varese by Gianfranco Skala, when he shared stage and microphone with the great Mavis Staples. In our Cathedral on Sunday, Mauro is sure to fascinate the Blues to Bop public with his passionate tribute to one of the greatest guitarists of all time: Sister Rosetta Tharpe.
